Santiago Mesa wins the Prova de Abertura with our competition saddle Quasar CR 2.0

And Rádio Popular-Paredes-Boavista, sponsored by Repente, triumphed in the team standings.

– Colombian cyclist Santiago Mesa (Efapel) claimed victory at the Prova de Abertura 2025, securing his second win in the race that kicks off the Portuguese road cycling season. Riding with our high-performance competition bicycle saddle Quasar Cr 2.0, Mesa dominated the 158.8 km route between Vagos and Torreira Beach (Murtosa), crossing the finish line in 03:37:38 and beating Argentinian Tomas Contte (Aviludo-Louletano-Loulé) in a thrilling sprint.

Two years after his first win in the opening race of the season, the 27-year-old Colombian sprinter once again proved his strength and endurance. Venezuelan rider Leangel Linarez (Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua) secured third place.

The race saw an early attack from Pedro Silva (Anicolor-Tien21), who broke away from the peloton at km 50, gaining a lead of over two minutes. However, the Efapel and Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua teams worked together to close the gap, catching Silva in the final 15 km.

Performance, comfort … and victory

Mesa’s triumph is another testament to how the right racing saddle enhances performance. Designed for maximum comfort and aerodynamics, our competition saddle allows cyclists to push harder and ride faster, even in the most intense sprints.

For cyclists looking to gain a competitive edge, choosing the right saddle is just as important as training. Experience the winning difference—ride with the same saddle as the champion, Santiago Mesa.
