After pioneering new frontiers in sustainability with the first Nova saddle, Repente takes another bold leap forward with Nova 2.0, an even more advanced and refined saddle that sets new, unexplored standards in eco-conscious performance.
Nova 2.0 is the first fully recyclable bicycle saddle. It’s glue-free and manufactured using exclusive technologies. Both the shell and the padding are made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), processed in two distinct ways: one to achieve the rigidity required for the base, and the other to provide the softness of the padding.
Repente is the first saddle manufacturer to develop this groundbreaking technology, which brings a range of significant advantages.
Using a single material eliminates the need for adhesives and surface coatings, reducing the entire production process to a single step. That means shorter production times, lower costs, an extremely low environmental impact, and a highly competitive price.
Entirely made in Italy, Nova 2.0 reflects Repente’s commitment to a local and sustainable supply chain. Once the rail (also recyclable) is removed, no material separation is needed to recycle the saddle.
At the end of its life cycle, the shell and padding can be ground up and reintroduced into the production loop to become new TPU products, giving the material a second life.
Nova 2.0 is also one of the lightest saddles in its category: 230 grams for the Aeron version with chromoly rails, and 285 grams for the ST4 with steel rails. It’s highly versatile, has a sleek and distinctive design, and stands out in terms of performance.
TPU offers excellent mechanical properties, including shape memory, resistance to impact, torsion, and abrasion, as well as full waterproofing, even against oily substances.
Comfort and ergonomics are at the heart of the design. Nova 2.0 features a large central anatomical cutout, the Close Fit ischial design to reduce pressure and prevent numbness, and Ergo Shape lateral contouring to enhance thigh movement.
The anti-slip coating has a pleasantly tactile feel and ensures stable positioning on the saddle, whether on the road or off-road.
